What to Call People From Every State

What to Call People From Every State: You probably know a few state demonyms—the words you call people or things from a specific state—like “Pennsylvanian” or “Texan” or the entertaining “Michigander.” You might even know that Wikipedia keeps a list of semi-official state demonyms, plus alternate options. But did you know that state demonyms follow a regional pattern?

BOOK WITHDRAWAL POLICY

BOOK WITHDRAWAL POLICY: withdrawal is an important aspect of collection development. When library books lose the value for which they were originally selected, they should be withdrawn so that the collection remains vital and useful. The withdrawal of books is based on the following guidelines:

1. To remove physically worn out or damaged volumes from the library.

2. To eliminate books containing obsolete information.

3. To remove duplicate copies of titles that have waned in popularity, eliminating those most physically damaged or worn.

3. To consider for withdrawal, books which have not been checked out for several years. The library's rule of thumb on most materials is that if it has not been checked out in five years it may be discarded. Points to consider include the current popularity of the author and the historical and literary significance of the material in question.

Disposition of Withdrawn Materials:

All materials withdrawn from the collection should be stamped as "discarded" or "withdrawn.

The Library Director in agreement with the Regional Library Board of Trustees will make the final decisions regarding the disposition of materials withdrawn from the collection.

100 Word Story. The CUE word was POWER

Power was delivered to the wheels through the Casemont confabulator. The spiral downdraft tube assembly provided the high octane oxidant to the Belkins oval-throat chambers at the side of the main assembly. We took our chances when we cooled and boosted both of the Merrymount thrust bobbins containing the spindle head valve jacks. We installed a dozen, brass, hand formed whipple cups for better lubrication, hoping to stabilize redundant lifter spin at high revolutions. The zenith of measureable output came the day we readjusted the Neiki spinners in the flux field, allowing more ribbons of plasma to enter the Merrymounts.

100 Word Story

The cue words for this week were: Mug, Unfortunate, Global, Grime, Elephant, Splat and Dread

My mug was the result of an unfortunate accident. There was an profusion of global grime and chemicals in the atmosphere. My poor, expectant mother was exposed to such pollution, as the official elephant tender at the town zoo in Cape May. This was determined to be the most significant cause for my deformity. My nose did not grow nor form naturally from the center of my face. It was more of a careless splat of flesh and gristle that “the dread designer” chose for me . I survived as a bit player in off-off Broadway productions of Russian playwrights.

100 Word story with prompt: Prompt Screech Future Gyrate Frustration Majestic

We were promised a majestic future. We got no such thing. Someone dropped me here, and left me with no guidance, no promise of majestic accomplishments, and no way out. A remote radio prompt was sent every hour or so. The last one had me engage the drill and gyrate enough to jar a rock sample loose for inspection, photos and subsequent transmission. The frustration grew by the day. I’d beep and screech so earth station personnel would be alerted. As the last iteration of the Mars Rover, my time was almost up, after fifteen long years. I was dying.
